part of the prologue to the first novel in my trilogy

yay for opening sequences that involve small girls being eaten by monsters

I think I'll still play around with the design for the Beast (aka Eisslen/Nevros/Ossia...it's a long story ;=_, though i have to say i'm kind of in love with the exposed ribs and glowing energy thing it's got going on here. I'm kind of in love with the lighting in general here, it fits the tone so perfectly.

It's a lot easier to describe a monster in bits and pieces and leave it up to the imagination than it is to wholly pin one down.

story time:

Eisslen is an evil otherdimensional creature mostly consumed by hatred, jealousy and hunger that an immortal called Nevros unwisely summoned. The other immortal in existence, Ossia, found a way to bind Eisslen, but unfortunately it involved binding himself to both her and Nevros and locking them away in a prison in Aethos (realm of the gods). At the start of the story, Eisslen manages to break free but the only part that gets out is a physical form and her hunger, along with the power and strength of all three. The hunger forms into a huge, ravenous beast that terrorises Erivaxya, killing and eating everything it can find
